Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer – Data Governance to design, implement, and enhance enterprise-wide data governance frameworks. This role is critical in ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data governance tools, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks, along with hands-on experience in modern data platforms and cloud ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Governance Framework
Design and implement a scalable enterprise data governance framework
Align governance strategies with business goals and regulatory requirements
2. Data Quality Management
Build and deploy automated data quality monitoring systems
Develop tools/APIs to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
3. Data Stewardship
Promote a strong data stewardship culture across business and technical teams
Drive accountability for data ownership and quality
4. Metadata Management
Implement and manage metadata frameworks and data catalog solutions
Automate metadata capture, classification, and management processes
5. Data Lineage
Develop and maintain end-to-end data lineage models
Enhance existing lineage tools for better traceability and transparency
6. Compliance & Security
Ensure compliance with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry standards
Implement data privacy and security best practices
7. Collaboration & Enablement
Work closely with data engineers, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders
Conduct training sessions to promote governance awareness and adoption
8. Continuous Improvement
Continuously improve governance frameworks based on evolving business and technology needs
9. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed documentation of governance policies and processes
Provide regular reporting on data quality metrics and governance KPIs
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
6–9 years of overall experience, with 3+ years in Data Governance/Data Management
Strong programming skills in Python (or similar languages)
Hands-on experience with data quality tools (e.g., Monte Carlo, Metaplane)
Experience with data governance tools such as Atlan, Alation, Secoda, or data.world
Solid understanding of:
Data modeling
Data lineage & classification
Metadata management
Experience with modern data stack:
Snowflake, dbt, Looker
Familiarity with cloud platforms:
AWS / Azure / GCP
Experience with data integration tools:
Fivetran / ETL pipelines
Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA)
Preferred Skills
Experience building custom governance or data quality tools/APIs
Exposure to policy engines and role-based access control (RBAC)
Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
